District Council By Election - Trafalgar Candidates Interviews

On 6 May 2021 Horsham residents in the Trafalgar Ward will be voting for a District Councillor. There are three candidates standing for election. These are:

Martin Boffey - Liberal Democrats

Aaron Courteney-Smith - Conservatives

Joanne Kavanagh - Labour

With Rookwood falling within this Ward, KRGA invited all three candidates to participate in a short interview so that we could hear their personal thoughts on Horsham’s Green Spaces, housing allocation and how they would represent local residents’ views should they be elected.

All three candidates kindly agreed to be interviewed via Zoom.

We asked each candidate the following 10 questions:

  1. Could you introduce yourself please?

  2. Which green spaces in Horsham do you use?

  3. We need more houses, we all know that! What should stop us building on the Town’s green spaces?

  4. What would you do to protect Horsham Town’s green spaces?

  5. What are your top three priorities for getting the best value from our green spaces in the Town?

  6. Specifically, what would be your priorities for getting best value from Rookwood?

  7. What would you do to level up housing allocation in the District?

  8. What would you do to ensure that new developments include at least 30% affordable housing?

  9. Many people in Horsham Town think they don’t have a voice in Council decisions. What would you do about this?

  10. Any final key message you would like to leave use with?

All of the individual answers are available to view on our YouTube Channel.
